Biography / CV of Paz Perlman

Paz Perlman`s Biography

During this time she opened her own studio in an old boatyard hangar and presented her works in several exhibitions and galleries.
She also travelled several times to the mountains in Petra Santa in Italy where she worked and studied with stone masters, creating her own marble sculptures.
She works almost exclusively by hand. While this is laborious, it allows her to form an intimate relationship with the sculpture and really feel into what she is creating.
The ideas and concepts that form her sculptures are completely abstract in nature. Depending on the material she uses, she either superimposes her ideas or allows it to guide her.
Born and brought up in Israel, Paz originally trained and worked internationally as an instructor in dance, tai chi and yoga.
She says ?the deep understanding I have of movement has been instrumental in developing my sculpting practice.?
She moved to Brighton, England, in 2005, and has been working in her own studio, as well as with a community of sculptors in East Sussex.
Paz is a member of Surrey Sculpture Society and exhibits and takes private commissions. Recent exhibitions include RHS Wisley, Guildford Cathedral. Sunbury Walled Garden, and Brighton Open Houses.

Artist Statement of Paz Perlman

Paz Perlman`s Statement
My art reflects the universal desire to make sense of the world around us and our place within it.

I feel compelled to grapple with the unconscious forces within and to manifest them in abstract forms. In that manner, I see art as a mirror reflecting from the inside out.

Having originally trained and worked internationally as an instructor in dance, tai chi and yoga, I draw upon my understanding of movement to inform my practice and am fascinated by the challenge to bring matter to life.

I am attracted to architectural structures of modern life as much as being inspired by the power and flow of organic forms in nature.

This dynamic combination of precision and fluidity expresses itself in my most recent sculptures.

Earlier works sit between primitive symbolism and the experimental element found in minimalism.

My hope is to offer viewers the opportunity to recognise and connect to a deeper aspect of themselves.

I have a studio in Brighton and use a variety of materials such as stone, wood, metal, and clay.
I am a member of Surrey Sculpture Society and exhibits and takes private commissions. Recent exhibitions include RHS Wisley, Guildford Cathedral, Sunbury Walled Garden, and Brighton Open Houses.
My works are in private collections in various countries including Holland, Switzerland, UK and Israel.

"I express myself in sculpture since I am not a poet. "

Customer comment on 'Forest Fairy 2 (Bronze Dancer Contemporary statue)' by Plamen Dimitrov
Dear Peter (ArtParkS), Plamen (artist)

Just today the package with the sculpture ”Forest Fairy” has arrived. Safe, perfectly packed. I must say “Forest Fairy” is really beautiful, great! I like her very much, her hands, her emotional dance, feelings hidden in her body. Thank you for filling my home with beauty. I wish you both a lot of enthusiasm for marvellous work you do.
